First Annual Tyrus Bachar Fund Raiser

When: Nov. 19th
Time: 6pm-9pm
Place: Red Rock Climbing Center
What: Climbing Poker Fest
Cost: $20 pre-registration or $25 day of registration

We will be raising money for The Tyrus Bachar Foundation. You can register as a beginner, intermediate, or advanced climber.

There will be 5 topropes set up for each category. For each climb you complete, you will recieve a playing card. After you complete 5 climbs, you will have 5 cards and that is your poker hand. Players will win prizes based on their hand.

We will also have a silent auction. The American Alpine Institute had donated a trip that we will be auctioning off as well. The course that we would like to donate is our Alpinism 1: Intro to Alpinism course. This is a six-day course that culminates in an ascent of Mount Baker. The minimum bid is $500. The auction will run now thru Nov. 27th where we will announce the winner at our Adopt A Crag event

The long hours definitely paid off for us this year!

We helped line a trail at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park on Saturday's service project. Unfortunately due to inclement weather, Sunday's project was canceled.

Fran Baker held a Leave No Trace Clinic on Sunday and handed out RESTOP 2 bags to participants in addition to LNT Rock Climbing Ethics Handbooks.

At our booth we had our famous "pile o' poo" and educated climbers on proper human waste disposal.

REI donated an awesome pack, sleeping bag, bivy, and sleeping pad for us to raffle off!

AAI donated an Intro to Mountaineering trip ($1160 value) for us to raffle to service project participants.

Congrats to the lucky raffle winners and a BIG THANKS to AAI and REI!!!

A Special Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out at the booth this year. You helped make it a success and it wouldn't have happened without you!

Social Event Recap

We had an awesome turnout for our first social event at Tenaya Creek Brewery! The LVCLC provided food, beer and fun all around. We plan to have a social event each quarter and want to have them at different locations. Please let us know if you have a place you would like us to hold our next event.
